Construction finished (apart from shutters)

Well, it's taken me over eight months, but the construction phase is now pretty much finished.  This week I put the finishing touches on the garden, and finally put in the windows.  The only thing left to do is to add the shutters around the main windows, but I need to build shutters still so I took advantage of a sunny morning and took some pictures outside.

I've now got no excuse to avoid the internal furnishing and decorating - always the part I find the most difficult.  It will be nice to give my Miss Lydia Pickett furniture a home at last.  The pieces I've finished have been living in dusty limbo in a wall-hung open shelf, and some kits (bathroom, kitchen) are still in their boxes.

It's been a long journey, and illustrates how long it can take to build a Greenleaf kit if you only get a few hours a week to work on it.  but I've enjoyed (most of) it and I am very pleased with how it's turned out.  The official Miss Lydia Pickett house (pictured left in 1/48th scale) may only be available in 1/48th scale, but I feel satisfied with what I've achieved in 1/24th scale.  I want to send a big thank you to my American friend Xenia, who very kindly took delivery of the house from Greenleaf and sent it on to me here in the UK, and Judith of In Some Small Way, who sourced a lot of the components I selected to achieve the LP look.

I will keep on blogging as I work on the interior, and hopefully I will be able to keep up the momentum until it's mostly done (although I feel very guilty writing that as I still haven't finished my Willowcrest...).
